The brand 'minä perhonen,' known for crafting garments with care from original textiles that gently embrace the wearer. The collaboration came to life as our philosophies aligned. Enjoy the rich world that unfolds from the illustrations inside this Randoseru with a free-spirited sensibility and imagination, much like a story.

For over 60 years since its founding, Tsuchiya Kaban has continued to make and refine our Randoseru. The Randoseru was created as a sturdy and beautiful bag that Japanese elementary school students could continuously use every day for 6 years. It has been regarded as universal and durable and is now enjoyed by many people regardless of age or nationality. Made from 150 parts in 300 steps, the Randoseru keeps its beautiful box shape even after many years of use because each side's core is made with a double structure of bonded resin and sponge. For parts like shoulder straps that undergo a lot of strain, we have developed processes such as reinforcing machine stitching with hand stitching on top. We are very conscious of designs that fit the body and achieve comfort while carrying it on the back by evenly distributing the load. In particular, the cushioning on the back is U-shaped to ensure a good fit and prevent heat from building up. It's also waterproof, making it simple to clean. It fits a 13" laptop and metal fittings on each side to attach items such as key chains.

Tsuchiya Kaban and minä perhonen

The brand is loved in Japan and abroad for its clothes, bags, intire fabrics, tableware, etc., carefully tailored piece by piece from original textiles with hand-drawn designs. The Japanese brand was established by designer Akira Minagawa in 1995.
The brand name "minä" means "I" and "perhonen" means "butterfly" in Finnish. It is a wish that each person who wears minä perhonen clothes will become "her or himself" and truly feel like the person she or he is.
At the core of minä perhonen's craftsmanship is design from materials, with a focus on original textiles. Since the brand's establishment, the textiles have been hand-designed by in-house designers, and are made mainly from natural materials, utilizing the skills of craftsmen. The brand aims to continue its activities, passing from generation to generation, thinking 100 years into the future. The philosophy of the brand fits and the collaboration on Randoseru was realized.

Even after using for a long time, the core material in the box-shaped sides has a double structure of resin and sponge glued together. This allows it to absorb impacts well and maintain its beautiful boxy shape for many years. The durability of the straps, which are prone to wearing out, is ensured in ways such as reinforcing with layers of leather hand stitching.
