Our journey as a brand began with the Randoseru: an iconic school bag that marks an important milestone in every Japanese child’s life. In creating the Legacy Logo Line, we sought to craft a signature series equally worthy of celebrating milestones across all stages of life. We envisioned a bag that would feel exceptional enough for life’s special moments, while seamlessly integrating into the everyday. What materials, forms, and functions could bring such a vision to life?
The Legacy Logo Line represents the culmination of that pursuit. Functional designs meet premium materials, with each piece showcasing the natural beauty of leather through its sculptural form and refined surface treatments.
To highlight the subtle richness of leather, we experimented with a range of techniques, refining the embossed pattern through countless iterations until it reached perfection. The final repeating motif, drawn from our logo, also pays homage to Japanese aesthetics—specifically the long tradition of adorning everyday objects with symbolic geometric patterns.
Our inspiration further extended to kumiki, the traditional craft of interlocking wooden constructions that form intricate, nail-free geometries.This intricate design transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, elevating daily life into moments to be treasured for a lifetime.
Crafting a three-dimensional geometric “T” motif on supple, organically textured leather came with no shortage of challenges. To express the pattern in its most beautiful form, we conducted painstaking trials to determine the ideal logo height—making adjustments as fine as 0.1mm at a time.
Another challenge lay in balancing the natural elegance of premium Italian leather with the need for the embossed design to remain crisp over time. Countless iterations led us to a carefully chosen backing material that strikes the ideal balance between pliability and durability, paired with precisely calibrated embossing pressure and temperature.
The first piece to be crafted from our embossed leather, this exceptional backpack radiates both elegance and presence. Transforming the intricate, embossed leather into a three-dimensional bag was a meticulous process that demanded close collaboration between our designers and craftspeople.
