Artist Series Randoseru

Tsuchiya Kaban has partnered with 6 artists in the US to create a limited edition series of hand-painted Randoseru. Available to purchase in person at our exhibition in Portland, and online from November 20, 2023.

The concept behind the “Artist Series” was born out of experimentation and exploration of different ways we could present this classic and iconic bag. We realized the design of the bag itself, with its hardshell front flap, begged to become a canvas for paint, so we reached out to some artists we know and love. The artists we chose all have a connection to this bag in some way. Some were born in Japan and grew up with the Randoseru, some have visited Japan many times and are obsessed with Japanese culture, and some are from the US and just love the design of the bag. We gave each artist free rein to express themselves, which resulted in these one-of-a-kind works of wearable art.
