Urban Ease:
Elevated Shoulder Bag Styles with
Tetsuaki Miyamoto

There’s something about a good shoulder bag—light, effortless, and perfect for keeping essentials close. But when it brings refinement, it becomes a true style staple that anchors your personal style.

Today, we’re speaking with Tetsuaki Miyamoto, Director of BLANDET Tokyo—a curated fashion and lifestyle showroom in the heart of Harajuku—about how he uses the effortless charm of a shoulder bag to build looks that balance elegance, individuality, and playfulness.

Meet Tetsuaki Miyamoto

Director of BLANDET Tokyo

Founder of MIYAMOTO SPICE

A multidisciplinary fashion and lifestyle visionary, Tetsuaki founded MIYAMOTO SPICE after years in retail and PR. Today, he runs BLANDET Tokyo and independent jacket brand Jacket, while taking on a wide range of creative projects—all driven by his ethos of “blending” different genres and aesthetics to create unexpected richness.

“Just like blending spices to create new flavors, bringing together different people, materials, and disciplines creates something entirely new. That sense of surprise and joy is what I want people to experience here,” he shares.

LOOK 1: Refined Casual with a Playful Touch

Playing with brown tones

Tone Nume Medium Shoulder

$601.00

“This shoulder bag has a casual silhouette, but because it’s all leather, it carries a sense of structure,” says Miyamoto. “I wanted to work with the brown color without making it overly earthy, so I added a lively floral print shirt, gold-accented glasses and watch, and slightly glossy silk-blend wide pants for lightness. The black shoes finish the look and keep it grounded.”

LOOK 2: Adding Rhythm to a Jacket Style

Breaking rules—while keeping balance

Roadster Tall Crossbody Bag

$579.00

“For art-viewing days, I often go for a jacket style. Today, I paired jeans with a double-breasted jacket, scarf, and leather shoes—adding a casual note to a dressy base. Suit and jacket looks have so many ‘rules,’ but I enjoy breaking them in a balanced way.”

“The vertical leather crossbody feels sophisticated yet relaxed, which makes it perfect for slightly dressed-down formal looks. I’ve mixed in denim painter pants, leather shoes inspired by vintage athletic styles, and a dotted shirt and scarf for subtle playfulness.”

LOOK 3: Monotone Casual Chic

Elevating an everyday moment

CORDURA® Nylon Mini Sling

$283.00

“When I’m out for a park stroll with my kid, I need mobility. This mini sling offers just that—but with the Cordura nylon base and leather accents, it’s still refined. That’s why I grounded the look in gray-based monotones for a chic edge, finishing with a black hat, black shoes, and silver accessories for consistency.”

“These shorts, by the way, are one of my favorites—they’re printed with sumi ink in three different pigment concentrations by a Japanese artisan, which gives the pattern richness and depth. I truly love pieces that embody the kind of aesthetic and technical sophistication that’s rooted in traditional Japanese craft.”
