With an abundance of wild and rural landscapes at its doorstep, Portland is a city that offers easy access to endless outdoor adventures. Today, we join multidisciplinary artist Nadav Benjamin, his wife Lindsey, and their dog Gilda on a fly-fishing adventure in the heart of Oregon.
Nadav, a photographer and painter with diverse creative pursuits, was introduced to fly fishing by Lindsey—a skilled fly fisher and cartographer by trade, who enjoys a deep connection with rivers. “When she is not creating and analyzing maps at work, she studies them to find the perfect fishing spots where others may not have thought to look,” shares Nadav.
When spending a day immersed in nature, having durable and functional gear is essential.
The Vainno Round Backpack Waterproof, crafted from premium waterproof leather, is a rare design that offers all of the above while maintaining a minimal and luxurious aesthetic. Complete with comfortable padding on the back and straps and multiple compartments for organization, it’s the perfect companion to ensure a comfortable journey.
Nadav and Lindsey packed their Vainno Round Backpack Waterproof the night before, a ritual that ensures they can make the most of an early start. With snacks, water bottles, and essential gear stowed away, they set off in a van Nadav transformed into a cozy camper, perfect for overnight trips.
Their journey today takes them to the picturesque Metolius River in Camp Sherman, and later to a secluded creek near Mount Hood, discovered on a whim. “I sometimes don’t catch any fish at all, but I’ll try,” says Nadav. “It is fun practicing the different fly casting techniques and being by a river is a very calming place. Lindsey almost always catches a lot.”
Between casts, they indulge in gourmet tin fish, fresh cherries, and conclude the day with a bottle of fine wine, savoring their peaceful outing.
Nadav appreciates the ease of the Vainno Round Backpack Waterproof: “The amount of padding and the shape of the straps makes it comfortable on the shoulders and distributes weight evenly,” he explains.
A sleek, minimalist design, it also transitions seamlessly from outdoor adventures to urban life. Nadav is excited to use it on his daily commute to his studio in Portland, where the waterproof function and sleek design will be perfect for navigating the city’s famously rainy weather.
A big thank you to Nadav, Lindsey, and Gilda for sharing their beautiful day with us!
