Steerhide (Iron-dyed)
The Art of Iron-Dyeing: Deep Green Hues with Timeless Elegance
Paying homage to traditional Japanese iron-dye methods, our iron-dyed leather is crafted through a meticulous process that brings out unique deep green hues, with brown and blue undertones. After vegetable tanning and iron powder dyeing, the leather undergoes color adjustments and is treated for a stable, lasting finish. The reaction between tannin and iron produces distinctive hues, with subtle color variations arising naturally from factors such as iron content, the unique characteristics of each leather hide, and specific dyeing conditions.
Over time, this leather ages beautifully, deepening in color and developing a luxurious patina. Natural marks and subtle color variations are part of its charm, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
※Due to the natural finish, unique characteristics of the leather such as natural marks and color variations that occur during the tanning process are more pronounced, and is part of the charm of this distinctive leather. Subtle color variations may occur between connected parts or across different production batches. These variations are intentionally preserved, as they contribute to the unique individuality of each piece.
※Color Transfer & Fading: Due to the dyeing process, some color transfer or fading may occur. Be mindful when handling and storing the leather to prevent staining or discoloration.
※Pull-Up Effect: The leather will show lighter tones when it is pressed or bent, creating what is referred to as a "pull-up" effect that adds to its character.
※Light Sensitivity: To preserve its natural appearance, the leather is treated with minimal color-fixing. Extended exposure to direct sunlight may cause fading. We recommend storing items made from this leather in a shaded environment when not in use.

The Look of Natural Leather
We have chosen to keep natural markings such as scars, wrinkles, veins, and pores on the cowhide to showcase the natural appearance of the leather in our products. This is one of the most distinctive features of our bags. The appearance of the leather will vary depending on the part of the hide and individual differences between animals. Through careful observation, you will uncover your leather product's unique, one-of-a-kind appearance.
